The North Country Food Co-op is an anchor tenant in downtown Plattsburgh. In its 40th year the Co-op embarked upon an ambitious renovation of the level one store interior and building street facade.
Premises established the schematic design direction for the facade renovation and developed numerous material studies toward the goal of honoring Plattsburgh’s Historic District, creating an attractive design, replacing a technically deficient building envelope, and contributing on a multitude of levels to lead the revitilation efforts of downtown Plattsburgh and demonstrate the power of thoughtful, respectful, technically advanced and materially sound building design.
Premises Architecture created a fresh direction with a new color program and experiential graphic concepts featuring “local food stories” and a signage designed to promote member and community participation in the making. The incorporation of a generous ramp connects two level store levels to provide an elegant solution to accessibility integrated into the comprehensive customer experience.
